The mighty Wechselberg

Rises on the easterly border of the Straßer valley and looks towards the south. The soils are slate(ardesia vulcanica), left over from the crystalline of the Bohemian Massif. Thanks to the layout of this location, it receives intensive sunshine all day long (irradiazione solare tutto il giorno). The altitude (altitudine) of the Wechselberg creates a special microclimate(microclima particolare), where a gentle breeze cools down the hot summer air in the evening (brezza serale che rinfreca dalla calura estiva). This temperature variation ensures excellent flavours in the grapes. These conditions are ideally suited to growing Grüner Veltliner and Riesling in the vineyards of the Wechselberg. This wine belongs to the adventures in our estate, a Grüner Veltliner, grown on soil over very old rock, where usually only great Riesling grapes are allowed to grow. In spite of his high ripeness, he has a fine mineral note with an elegant touch (nonostante la maturità spinta delle uve conserva un’impronta decisamente minerale ed un tocco di rara eleganza).

All this, together with tightness (rigore), power and potential (potenza e struttura), makes this wine a very great one, with profoundness (profondità), but staying typical for a Grüner Veltliner.

An abundance of fruit (abbondanza di frutto) in smell and concentrated expression on the palate. It’s a perfect combination of tightness and sweetness (severità & dolcezza) due to high extracts with robust acidity (estratti notevoli & acidità robusta). This wine is reflecting the poor mineral soil as well as the climatic differences between day and night (escursioni termiche importanti). It demonstrates the greatness of this vineyard. Smelling like vineyard peaches, waxy citras nose (cera & agrumi), a rich entry leads to a ripe, fullbodied palate with solid underlying acidity, has great cut and intensity (verticale ed intenso).
